Agriculture I
Year 5 Pds/Wk. 1 Credit Grade 9
Prerequisites: None
Course Description: This course is designed as an introduction to agriculture. Units include animal production, plant growth and development, conservation of natural resources, pollution, leadership, careers in agriculture, mechanics in agriculture, chemical safety and the FFA.
Required Reading: Exploring Agriscience
Required Projects: Students are required to maintain a Supervised Agriculture Experience project during the second semester.

Agriculture II

Course Description: This course is designed for sophomore students interested in Agriculture. Units of instruction will include biotechnology as related to plants and animals, food and fiber production, environmental technology, agriculture mechanics, leadership development, and the FFA.

Required Projects: Students are required to maintain a Supervised Agriculture Experience Project.

Course Description: This course is designed for Junior students interested in Agriculture forestry, and wildlife sciences. Units of instruction will include soil science, food science, aquatics, leadership development, tree identification, estimation, lumber processing and marketing. Additional units will include identification of wildlife species, habitat management, game laws and deer, bear and turkey management. Top students can compete in the county envirothon competition.

Course Description: This course is designed for Senior students interested in agriculture, horticulture, and landscape sciences. Units of instruction will include agriculture business and marketing, Units in horticulture will include plant propagation, greenhouse management, container plants, pest control, gardening and floral design. Units in landscaping will include site preparation, selecting trees, estimation cots and landscaping techniques and equipment.

Agriculture Mechanics Seminar i & ii

Course Description: This course is designed for Junior and Senior students interested in agriculture mechanics. Units of instruction will include small gas engines, wood working, welding, plumbing, electricity and more. Students are expected to complete in-class work, then make applications of their studies in the shop.
