SAE Curriculum

SUPERVISED AGRICULTURE EXPERIENCE I (9091) **

     Year     1 Credit     Grade 9

SUPERVISED AGRICULTURE EXPERIENCE II (1091) **

     Year     1 Credit     Grade 10

SUPERVISED AGRICULTURE EXPERIENCE III (1191) **

     Year     1 Credit      Grade 11

SUPERVISED AGRICULTURE EXPERIENCE IV (1291) **

     Year     1 Credit      Grade 12

Prerequisites: Must be enrolled in an Agriculture Class.

Course Description: Supervised agriculture experience projects are record keeping projects completed individually beyond the school day.  Students must maintain one of six types of projects. All projects must be agriculturally related and are subject to agriculture teacher approval. The format will follow the FFA record book system adopted by the PA FFA Association. The types of projects available are (1) production, (2) work experience, (3) Improvement, (4) wildlife, (5) practicum skills, and (6) research.

Grades Based On: Classroom work and participation.

Grading Scale:      90 – 100    A

                                80 – 89      B

                                70 – 79      C

                                60 – 69      D

With market livestock, members have the opportunity to raise and show a market animal, then sell it at their local county fair/show.

Whether members mow lawns for a profit, or actually own a company, entrepreneurship allows them to develop and operate their own buisness.

Having a job

Members that work in an agricultural related job-area, and recieve a paycheck fall under the paid placement SAE catagory.

Internships

Through an internship with an agriculture-related business, members have the opportunity to experience future career choices and job opportunities.

Members can choose an agriculture-related topic of interest to research and study.
